A façade that drinks the rain ends up handing it to the inside.

What you see

Dark patches on the façade that take days to dry after rain. Moss or green streaks on the exposed parts. Hollowed joints, bricks whose face has burst. Inside, a stain on the wall facing the rain, or a top-floor bedroom that is always a little damp.

How it works

A façade water repellent is a siloxane-based product that penetrates the brick and makes its pores hydrophobic: water beads instead of entering, vapour keeps getting out. A treated façade stays dry, freezes less, gets dirty less, and insulates a little better, because a dry brick conducts less heat than a wet one.

It works no miracle on a damaged façade: a hollow joint or a crack lets water through, product or not. Hence the preparation.

What we do

We look closely: joints, cracks, sills, cornice, downpipes. A good share of façades that take water do so at one precise point, not across the whole surface.

We prepare: low-pressure cleaning, moss treatment, repointing of hollowed areas, crack repair.

We apply the repellent, in dry weather, on dry brick, in two passes. The product is invisible once dry.

On painted or glazed brick a water repellent makes no sense. We will say so.

What it costs

On the Belgian market the water-repellent treatment alone is priced between 15 and 30 € per m² of façade, excluding preparation and scaffolding. Repointing and cleaning are priced separately. Indicative ranges; the quote is put in writing after the visit. 6 % VAT if the home is over ten years old.
